Dr. Pooja Khedkar, an IAS trainee, has become embroiled in controversy due to her caste and disability claims. It is alleged that she illegally utilized benefits meant for OBC non-creamy layer and People with Benchmark Disability.

Her father Dilip Khedkar is a retired officer from the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board who ran for Lok Sabha elections as part of Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi and owns properties worth millions.

Dr Pooja Khedkar Education Qualification

Dr Pooja Khedkar of Pune District was selected for IAS officer selection after scoring All India Rank 821 at the UPSC exam and appointed as supernumerary assistant collector by Pune district administration. However, her appointment sparked widespread controversy regarding disability claims and caste status; Khedkar asserted in her affidavit submitted to UPSC that she is both visually impaired and mentally ill while alleging her father Dilip Khedkar had paid bribes to secure this appointment.

Khedkar was widely criticized for her conduct as a trainee officer. Reportedly demanding a separate cabin, staff, and an official car – privileges not usually accorded to probationary officers – via WhatsApp messages, she made such demands which she later faced charges for. Khedkar was later accused of occupying additional collector Ajay More’s ante-chamber and displaying red beacons on her Audi car that violated rules.

Khedkar’s caste claims are also being scrutinised. Her father, a retired government officer suspected of engaging in bribery and corruption, owns property valued at Rs 40 crore including 110 acres of land and seven shops he is reported to own. Her election affidavit indicated she belonged to OBC non-creamy layer category but an RTI activist has raised doubts regarding this claim due to his wealth as well as inconsistencies between this and claims of blindness or mental illness in her affidavit.

Dr Pooja Khedkar IAS Caste Category

Khedkar earned rank 821 (Pwd-5) in the UPSC exams and is on probation as an assistant collector in Maharashtra. However, she courted controversy for demanding privileges not provided to trainee officers such as demanding a bungalow, car and peon. Reports stated she sent WhatsApp messages demanding these perks as well as installing red-blue beacon lights and VIP number plates on her private Audi vehicle with a ‘Maharashtra government’ board installed for extra visibility – she was later transferred from Pune to Washim

Social activists have challenged her claims of OBC non-creamy layer status, noting her father Dilip Khedkar’s election affidavit that details significant family wealth. Dilip Khedkar ran for Lok Sabha elections and has assets worth more than Rs 40 crore which exceeds the requirements for OBC non-creamy layer status.

Khedkar also reportedly misrepresented herself during the recruitment process by failing to mention she is visually impaired and speech impaired, as well as failing to present at AIIMS Delhi for verification of her disability certificate, due to Covid-19 infection. A government committee has been formed to investigate Khedkar’s OBC and disability credentials; should she be found making false claims, she could face suspension or termination as punishment. They will also consider whether medical tests were conducted at an established hospital as per protocol when applying for her PwBD certificate.

Dr Pooja Khedkar Disability Certificate

Dr Pooja Khedkar, a 2022 batch IAS officer of Maharashtra cadre has recently found herself embroiled in a major controversy after allegations she submitted falsified disability and OBC certificates in order to pass her civil service exam. These allegations surfaced after Pune District Collector filed a report accusing Khedkar of asking for privileges not typically offered trainee officers such as separate offices, official vehicles and staff; she may have used her private Audi car fitted with red/blue beacon lights as well as VIP number plates while on duty – something she denies Khedkar of doing.

Dilip Khedkar, a former bureaucrat and candidate in the recent Lok Sabha elections, declared assets worth more than Rs 40 crore in his election affidavit; thus raising doubts as to her eligibility for OBC non-creamy layer status.

DoPT has organized a panel to investigate any suspected fraud committed against it by Ms. Singhal. This body will assess whether proper vetting was undertaken when she applied for civil services examination and whether she was truthful when applying. Furthermore, experts from AIIMS Delhi may be called in to verify her OBC and disability claims; should evidence of fraud be discovered, she could be terminated from service.

Dr Pooja Khedkar Income Certificate

Dr Pooja Khedkar is accused of falsely representing herself as belonging to an economically vulnerable part of society and claimed she suffered from mental illness and blindness; however, she failed to attend her scheduled medical examination dates and has missed several exams with DoPT specialists from AIIMS Delhi who will assess whether her visual and mental impairments meet government benchmarks.

Khedkar is believed to possess assets worth more than Rs 40 crore, as her father, a former bureaucrat and recently-successful Lok Sabha election candidate, listed her ownership of flats and plots valued in crores on his election affidavit. Additionally, she owns four luxury cars and holds partnerships in two private companies.

Sources claim Khedkar was motivated by her wealth and property to falsify disability and OBC non-creamy layer certificates, since only those with family income under Rs 8 lakh qualify for OBC non-creamy layer status.

2022 batch trainee IAS officer Jessica Hoskinson has been accused of falsifying documents to pass the civil services exam, using an Audi car with red-blue beacon lights and VIP number plates – contrary to rules. Additionally, she demanded letter pads, nameplates and separate office chambers which do not come standard for trainee officers and also took up residence in Pune district collector Ajay More’s antechamber without his knowledge.
