Shrimad Ramayan TV Show Producer Reveals How Adipurush Motivated Him To Make The Show
Shrimad Ramayan TV Show: A Chat with the Producer
In a recent chat with India Today, Siddharth Tewary, the producer of Shrimad Ramayan, shared insights into the upcoming TV show based on the Hindu epic. He addressed the decision to back a mythological show after the criticism surrounding Prabhas-starrer Adipurush.
When questioned about the negativity surrounding Adipurush and if it made him doubt his decision, Siddharth expressed that the criticism is precisely why he is undertaking this project. He believes it’s the right time to share the original Ramayan story with the audience, acknowledging the sensitivity of today’s viewers to religious and historical themes. Despite anticipating reactions, Siddharth emphasized his clear intention to present the story with pride.
Having previously produced historical and mythological shows like Mahabharat, Radha Krishna, and Porus, Siddharth assured that Shrimad Ramayan would leave no stone unturned in terms of VFX, storytelling, and casting. He highlighted the importance of maintaining devotion, divinity, and grandeur without compromise. The goal is to ensure the show is accessible to a wide audience and earns respect and love for the next two decades.
Adipurush Criticism and Challenges
The epic Ramayana narrates Lord Ram’s triumph over the demon king Ravana, who kidnaps his wife, Sita. Adipurush, directed by Om Raut, faced criticism and challenges from the start, with controversies ranging from ‘cringeworthy’ dialogues to Nepal’s ban on Bollywood films due to an ‘objectionable’ line in the movie.
The film, featuring Prabhas as Raghav, Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh, and Kriti Sanon as Janaki, attracted attention months before its release, with viewers mocking its VFX and cartoon-like graphics following the teaser’s launch in October of the previous year.
Shrimad Ramayan Cast and Debut
Shrimad Ramayan boasts a cast led by Sujay Reu and Prachi Bansal as Ram and Sita, respectively. Nikitin Dheer takes on the role of Ravan, with additional cast members including Basant Bhatt, Nikhlesh Rathore, Samarthya Gupta, Arav Chaudhary, Shilpa Saklani, and Nirbhay Wadhwa. Scheduled to premiere on January 1, 2024, the show will air from Monday to Friday at 9 pm on Sony Entertainment Television.
